After waking up on Saturday morning at the quaint and picturesque Chanticleer Inn on top of Lookout Mountain we would drive down to the city of Chattanooga, first stopping at Rembrandt's Coffee House located in the Bluff view art district for some coffee and a pastry to start our morning. For the first half of the day, we would spend it at the amazing Tennessee Aquarium enjoying all of the beautiful marine life. Around lunch time, we would stroll across the street to Blue Plate and enjoy a nice home-style cooked meal. I would have the halibut fish and chips! Next we would head over the bridge to Sophie's, a delightful home boutique. Afterward we would stop over at Coolidge Park and spread a blanket on the freshly cut grass and just enjoy one another for a while watching the other people that are out and about and possibly read a book for a bit. Then we would pack up and take a walk on Walnut Street Bridge, a bridge for pedestrians only, to burn off that lunch! Then we might head back to the Aquarium to watch a movie at the IMAX. Then we would finish our day at Big River Grill for some delicious shrimp and grits or fish tacos. After all of that, we would be exhausted and head back to the Chanticleer, enjoy the outdoor seating and just relax looking out over the city.
On Sunday, we would head to Niedlov's Breadworks for some incredible pastries and more coffee! Then we would trek to the Chickamauga Battlefield and spend a while roaming around the museum taking in a bit of history. After we finished in the museum, we would take out our bikes and bike the trails of the park to get a first hand view of the beautiful scenery. Then we would head back to Main Street for lunch at Bluegrass Grill and then walk across the street to Shadowbox Paperie. Next we would head to McKay's Used Bookstore and search through the thousands of books, cd's, and dvd's and come away with a few treasures. Then we would head back up the mountain, take a swim in the Chanticleer pool and spend the rest of our day at Ruby Falls. After we did all of that I would say our weekend would be complete! |
